Five ways to stop mosquitoes breeding around your home

Malaria photo posters: preview of the free download

Mosquitoes lay their eggs in water. No standing water means no mosquitoes. Do these five things every week.

  1. Empty buckets, pots, tyres, tins and bottles that hold water.
  2. Cover water drums and tanks with a lid or cloth.
  3. Clean flower vases and animal water bowls, and change the water often.
  4. Fill holes and puddles with sand or soil.
  5. Clear blocked drains, and cut long grass near the house.

Do it together. Mosquitoes fly between homes. Ask your neighbours to do the same. Make it a community clean-up day.
