Every year, WHO writes a big report about malaria in the world. Here are the main points from the latest report (December 2025), in simple words.
1. Malaria is still a big problem.
In 2024, 282 million people got malaria and 610,000 died. That is a little more than the year before.
2. New tools are working.
New nets and vaccines saved about 1 million lives in 2024.
3. Some medicine is getting weaker.
In 4 African countries, the main malaria medicine works less well than before. In 4 more countries, it may also be weaker. Doctors are watching closely, and new medicines are being tested.
4. There is not enough money.
In 2024, the world spent less than half of what is needed. Some countries had to stop or delay their net and medicine programmes.
5. Every person can help.
Learn, share, protect your family, and support communities that need nets and tests.
