How to run your first A World Without Malaria group

How to run your first A World Without Malaria group

You do not need to be a doctor to help your community learn about malaria. Our free series makes it easy.

What you need

  • a phone, laptop or TV to show the videos
  • the free Study Guide (Resources page)
  • a place to meet: a community centre, school, church, clinic or home etc
  • 5 to 20 people

Before the group

  • Watch the episode yourself first.
  • Read the matching chapter in the Study Guide.
  • Download the video if the internet is slow.

A simple plan (about 1 hour)

  1. Welcome (5 minutes): say hello, introduce yourself and share or pray, if this fits your group.
  2. Watch (10–20 minutes): play one episode.
  3. Talk (20 minutes): use the questions in the Study Guide.
  4. Do (10 minutes): choose one action for this week, for example “check our nets”.
  5. Close (5 minutes): agree on the next meeting.

Tips

  • Keep it simple and friendly.
  • Let everyone speak.
  • If you do not know an answer, say so. Look in the Study Guide or ask a health worker.
